Abstract

ENGLISH: Islamic Religious Education Learning Strategy Based on Self-Regulated Learning in Enhancing Students' Metacognition at Al-Izzah International Islamic Boarding School

Objective: This study aims to analyze the learning strategies employed by teachers to enhance students' metacognition through a Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) approach at Al-Izzah IIBS Batu High School. Method: This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a case study design. Data was obtained through interviews with the principal, vice principal for curriculum, Islamic Education teachers, homeroom teachers, and students. Results: Improvements in the metacognition of students at Al-Izzah IIBS Batu High School were achieved through an Islamic Education learning strategy based on Self-Regulated Learning (SRL), where teachers trained students in reflection, and students developed independent learning skills through goal setting, planning, self-evaluation, and motivation reinforcement. Conclusion: The higher a student's Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) ability, the higher their level of metacognition, which ultimately shapes their learning independence and readiness to become lifelong learners who can continuously manage, monitor, and evaluate their learning process. Contribution: The application of Self-Regulated Learning in Islamic Religious Education not only enhances metacognitive abilities but also cultivates life skills such as independence, responsibility, and ongoing self-awareness in students.
