The Role of Community in Preserving Beredap Art Tradition in Talang Sali Village, East Seluma Subdistrict
Abstract
The art of beredap is one of the arts that developed in Talang Sali Village, East Seluma District, which is still preserved today. This preservation is inseparable from the active role of the community as the owners of the culture. This study aims to describe: 1) the role of the community in preserving the Beredap art tradition in Talang Sali Village, Seluma Timur Sub-district; 2) the factors driving the preservation of Beredap art in Talang Sali Village; and 3) the educational values within Beredap art. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was performed using the interactive model of Milles & Huberman. The research findings are as follows: 1) the role of the community in preserving Beredap art is through maintaining traditions, creating artistic works, and fostering cultural expressions; 2) the preservation of Beredap art in Talang Sali Village is supported by two main factors: the high enthusiasm of the community to preserve traditions and the availability of facilities and infrastructure; and 3) Beredap art contains educational values such as religious values, moral values, social values, cultural values, and aesthetic values.
