Sharia Cooperative Resilience in Improving Community Wellfare

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the resilience of sharia cooperatives in improving community welfare, with a focus on the KK Al muawanah Syariah UIN FAS Bengkulu, Indonesia. Cooperative resilience is important given the challenges and uncertainties faced by cooperatives in a dynamic business environment. The research method of this empowerment activity uses the ABCD approach. The results showed that with the assets it has and optimizing it, sharia cooperatives are able to rise with their own strength in the midst of the global economic downturn. After experiencing bleaching twice, sharia cooperatives took strategic steps consisting of changing the legal entity, Not using third party funds, full implementation of profit sharing, utilization of technology, maximization of human resource empowerment, cooperation with insurance, diversification of products and services, appropriate marketing strategies, and strengthening networks with external stakeholders. In improving the welfare of the community, cooperatives are able to provide better access to services and products with more affordable margins, services and prices, thus improving the quality of life of their members. This research provides a better understanding of the role of Islamic cooperative resilience in improving community welfare through the profit-sharing system it applies, and this is also clear evidence that the word sharia is no longer a scary thing but something that can be commodified into something commercial without reducing the value of sharia itself. The resilience of Islamic cooperatives also provides input for cooperative managers and other stakeholders to continue to develop Islamic cooperatives as economic institutions that are resilient in the midst of the global economy and contribute significantly to the welfare of the community because of the unique system owned by Islamic cooperatives.
