Instilling Discipline to Improve Social-Emotional Intelligence in Early Childhood

Abstract


ENGLISH: This study aims to explain the instillation of discipline in early childhood and the factors that influence their social-emotional development. Discipline that is applied consistently and in accordance with the child's developmental stage is expected to develop self-control, empathy, responsibility, and social skills. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method. The results of the study indicate that instilling discipline is essential in developing the social and emotional aspects of early childhood. Discipline that is contextual and appropriate to the needs of children builds strong social-emotional character. In conclusion, instilling discipline not only teaches obedience but is also an important foundation in shaping children's social-emotional character. This study is expected to provide guidance for parents and educators in developing the social-emotional aspects of early childhood through positive discipline.

INDONESIAN: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan penanaman sikap disiplin pada anak usia dini dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perkembangan sosial emosional mereka. Disiplin yang diterapkan dengan cara yang konsisten dan sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan anak diharapkan dapat mengembangkan kontrol diri, empati, tanggung jawab, dan keterampilan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode kajian literatur. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pembiasaan sikap disiplin sangat esensial dalam mengembangkan aspek sosial dan emosional pada anak usia dini. Disiplin yang kontekstual dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan anak membangun karakter sosial emosional yang kuat. Kesimpulannya, pembiasaan disiplin tidak hanya mengajarkan kepatuhan, tetapi juga merupakan fondasi penting dalam pembentukan karakter sosial emosional anak. Kontribusi penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan panduan bagi orang tua dan pendidik dalam mengembangkan aspek sosial emosional pada anak usia dini melalui sikap disiplin yang positif.
