Mesir–Israel Era Anwar Sadat: Antara Perdamaian dan Perpecahan

Ichsan Nur Hidayat, Danil folandra

Abstract

This article aims to examine the responses of Arab and Western countries to the Egypt-Israel peace agreement during President Anwar Sadat's era. A country that had previously been at the forefront of opposition to Israel, eventually reversed course by establishing cooperative relations with Israel. This research is qualitative and based on literature studies. Data were collected from research findings such as books, journals, and other data supporting this study. The study found that there were differences in the responses between Arab and Western countries to the Egypt-Israel peace agreement. Western countries, especially the United States, responded positively to Anwar Sadat's decision as a form of peace between nations. On the other hand, Arab countries expressed disappointment over what they considered a betrayal of the Arab struggle against Israel. This opposition came from various quarters, both within Egypt and from other Arab countries. For them, this decision marked the beginning of the fragmentation of Arab nations.
