WITNESS AND VICTIM PROTECTION AGENCY (LPSK) ON THE LEGAL PROTECTION OF WITNESSES AND VICTIMS IN INDONESIA

Abstract

The Witness and Victim Institute (LPSK) was formed in order to protect and guarantee the safety of Witnesses and Victims from threats so that Witnesses and victims do not feel afraid or threatened by revealing the true facts. However, there are allegations that the LPSK mechanism is not working well. One of them is that witnesses must submit an application to obtain LPSK protection and there are unclear laws regarding the protection of witnesses and victims. This research uses descriptive research and normative legal study methods. Normative research is used in order to collect various normative juridical references and other research results and then explain and describe the performance of duties and permits of the LPSK on the legal protection of witnesses and victims in Indonesia so that the results of this research reveal some information about the LPSK on the legal protection of witnesses and victims in Indonesia in terms of laws, mechanisms and other research, so it can be concluded that LPSK has not been effective in carrying out its duties and authority.
