Peer Counselor SEJIWA: Kolaborasi Guru BK dan Siswa dalam Membangun Dukungan Sebaya di Sekolah Kejuruan

Abstract


This community engagement program aimed to strengthen vocational students’ emotional and social resilience through the development of Peer Counselor Sejiwa at SMKN 10 Kota Malang. The program included needs assessment, training, and evaluation. Assessment results showed that students struggled with emotional regulation, anxiety in new environments (e.g., internships), and social adjustment, while the high student–counselor ratio limited access to individual counseling. A Peer Counselor Sejiwa Guidebook was developed, covering communication skills, E-Sociometry, basic listening skills, simple case management, and counseling ethics. Training was implemented using a project-based learning model through face-to-face sessions and online mentoring. Pre–post test results indicated significant improvement in students’ basic listening skills, with silence as the highest indicator. The program reduced light-case counseling queues and increased students’ empathy, emotional regulation, and readiness to support peers. These findings show that peer counselor empowerment is an effective strategy to improve emotional resilience and enhance school counseling services.
