Abstract

Environmental and health education in elementary school learning is often delivered separately, resulting in a lack of integration of learning outcomes. This community service activity aims to increase students' awareness and skills in environmental management and the use of medicinal plants for health and learning. The activity includes training in organic waste processing using a composter, training in cultivating family medicinal plants (TOGA), the creation of an environment-health-based learning module within the Science-Biology curriculum, and education on medicine and the use of herbal plants for health. This community service activity involved teachers and students in grades 4 and 5 of SDIT Taman Cahaya Global School Jakarta. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' knowledge and skills in processing organic waste and cultivating TOGA independently (normalized gain score in the medium-high category), as well as a growing awareness of the importance of herbal plants in maintaining family health. The developed module was also successfully integrated into the school's learning process. This activity also encouraged the formation of school community groups that are active in managing the environment and health sustainably. Future follow-up may include continued mentoring, program replication, and developing TOGA products such as ginger candy and herbals.
