Pembinaan Karakter, Nilai Moral, dan Kesantunan Berbahasa Anak Usia Dini di Kabupaten Tulungagung

Abstract


Teaching how to communicate effectively through etiquette interactions and avoid misunderstanding becomes important role among educators. Character building, moral values, and linguistic politeness for 52 children at TPQ Bago Tulungagung are a medium of conducting community service by English lecturer in order to strengthen character education based on Islamic values in non-formal education environments. It aimed at instilling moral values, character, and linguistic politeness to the children who recite Holy Quran through an interactive, contextual, and participatory approach. The Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach emphasizes active collaboration between lecturers and ustadzah in all stages of the activity, from problem identification, planning, implementation, to joint reflection. Delivery of material on character values, linguistic politeness, discussions, question and answer sessions, educational games, and reflection on the values of the Qur'an were reflected to teach how to behave politely in daily life. It showed that 47 students expressed how to behave politely, use polite expressions, as well as an increase ustadzahs’ motivation in instilling Islamic character values through exemplary behavior and educational communication. Time and facilities activities should be carried out continuously and expanded in scope, with the development of Islamic value-based character building modules and tiered training for ustadzah.
