ANALISIS LITERASI INTERNET PADA SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH PERTAMA

Abstract

In today's digital era, access to information is so abundant and communication occurs without limits. The ability to access, understand, and disseminate information effectively on online platforms is very important. This study aims to analyze internet literacy in Junior High School (SMP) students in Jakarta. This study involved 159 students. Data collection used a questionnaire developed from the Junior Student Internet Literacy Scale: Measurement and Development (Huang et al., 2021). The data that has been collected was processed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study showed that Internet Literacy in junior high school students was included in the high category (72.3%). The internet literacy measured consisted of five dimensions, namely Knowledge and Skills for the Internet, Internet Self-Management, Internet Awareness Cognition, Internet Interaction, and Autonomous Learning on the Internet. Based on the measurement results, the dimension that was considered good was the Internet Knowledge and Skills dimension. Meanwhile, the dimension that was not optimal was the Internet Interaction dimension. Therefore, family and school environments can provide training on digital ethics, including the importance of protecting the privacy of others online, and parents can be role models in online behavior and conveying polite communication on social media can set a good example for children and the use of appropriate technology and monitoring tools to integrate children's internet use, as well as teaching them how to manage privacy and security on social media accounts, can help ensure their interactions on platforms are safe.
