Pelatihan Teknik Herbarium Untuk Guru Biologi Sekolah Menengah Atas di Palangka Raya
Abstract
It is necessary to carry out training that supports the competence of educators to improve their quality. One of the competencies required is skills in making learning media, including herbarium for Biology subjects. This community service aimed to improve the skills and knowledge of high school biology teachers in herbarium techniques and could later be put into practice with
their students in their respective schools. The activity began by the committee coordinating with the Chair of Palangka Raya Biology Teachers MGMP. After deciding on the date and time as well as the participants involved, the activity was carried out. From the questionnaire it was discovered that all participants, except for 1 person, had given herbarium practicum at their school and the herbarium given was a dry herbarium. With this training, participants increasingly understood the step-by-step techniques for making a herbarium including sample collection, drying, attaching and labeling as well as storing and caring for the herbarium. This herbarium training was needed by the participants as seen from the responses which were very relevant (7 people) and relevant (4 people). The training went well, smoothly, and the target partners gained increased theoretical understanding and skills in making herbarium compared to before attending the training. The target partners were enthusiastic about applying the material obtained in the training at their respective assigned schools.
