Pelestarian Budaya dan Filosofi Makanan Tradisional Bengkulu melalui Pameran Seni Badendang

Abstract


As time goes by, many traditions are starting to be forgotten, including traditional food, which is increasingly being replaced by fast food. Traditional food, which has a distinctive taste and high cultural value, is now less recognized by the younger generation. A lack of introduction and knowledge about traditional food is one of the causes. Therefore, the introduction and preservation of traditional food are important. One of the preservation efforts is through a traditional food exhibition with the theme “Food Tradition in Badendang Art as Food Security of the Bengkulu Malay Community.” This activity uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method and begins with cooking training for PKK mothers, MSME’s, school students, and university students. The culmination of the event was a Bedendang art performance accompanied by an exhibition of various traditional foods that are an integral part of the Bengkulu community's traditions. Overall, this activity succeeded in not only educating the public about traditional food but also providing a first-hand experience of Bengkulu's distinctive art performances as an innovative and engaging cultural preservation effort.
