Implementasi Pendekatan Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) dalam Pemberdayaan Ekonomi Penyandang Disabilitas berbasis Prinsip Ekonomi Islam

Abstract


The economic empowerment of persons with disabilities communities continues to face various challenges, including limited access to capital, skills development, and inclusive business opportunities. Similar conditions are found within disability communities in Bengkulu City, which require an empowerment approach grounded in local potential and values. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach in the economic empowerment of disability communities that apply principles of Islamic economics. The research employed a qualitative method with a case study approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method to illustrate the empowerment process and its outcomes. The findings indicate that the ABCD approach is effective in identifying and optimizing individual, social, and institutional assets within disability communities, thereby encouraging the development of more independent and productive economic activities. The application of Islamic economic principles, including justice, ta’awun (mutual assistance), and business sustainability, plays a significant role in strengthening business ethics while enhancing trust and participation among community members. This study concludes that the ABCD approach based on Islamic economics is effective in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic empowerment of disability communities in Bengkulu City.
