Productive Zakat Management Strategy in Improving Community Welfare

Abstract

Productive zakat is one of the instruments in the Islamic economic system which aims to improve community welfare through the provision of zakat funds which are managed for activities that produce added economic value. This research aims to identify productive zakat management strategies that can improve community welfare, especially in the context of economic empowerment of poor communities and micro businesses. The method used in this research is a literature study and qualitative analysis of productive zakat management models implemented in various zakat amil institutions. The research results show that effective strategies include providing zakat funds in the form of business capital, entrepreneurship training, as well as ongoing supervision and mentoring. Apart from that, the importance of collaboration between zakat institutions, the government and the private sector is to create an ecosystem that supports the sustainability of businesses managed by mustahik.
