THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENTIATED LEARNING WITH GUIDED INQUIRY MODEL ON STUDENTS' MATHEMATICS LEARNING OUTCOMES

Abstract


The main objective of this study was to see the effect of differentiated learning with guided inquiry model on mathematics learning outcomes of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 10 Tanjungpinang. This study used quantitative methodology and Quasi Experimental Design type with Posttest Only Control Group Design. The method used for sampling was Cluster Sampling. Data collection techniques used were test and observation techniques. Quantitative data used for analysis came from daily algebra material tests and posttests given to the experimental and control groups. Descriptive statistics and inferential testing were the methods used to analyze the data. The descriptive analysis of the study detailed the findings, which revealed that the control class had an average learning outcome of 58 students compared to the experimental class which was only 67 students. To test the research hypothesis, an inferential test was used, using the Independent Sample t-test with a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05). The test produced a significance value of 0.001, which was lower than the significance value. The results showed that, on average, the experimental group was higher than the control group in the implementation of the posttest. So, it can be said that there is an influence of the application of differentiated learning using the guided inquiry model on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of SMP Negeri 10 Tanjungpinang.
