APPLICATION OF PROJECT BASED LEARNING (PJBL) LEARNING MODEL ON STUDENTS' MATHEMATICAL PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITIES
Abstract
Passive student engagement in mathematics learning and deficits in mathematical problem-solving skills are the driving forces behind this study. Finding out whether students using the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model are more proficient in solving mathematical problems than students using conventional teaching techniques is the purpose of this study. This study used a pure experimental design with posttest control group. The population of this study consisted of randomly selected students from classes and of SMAN 1 Tebo in the 2024-2025 school year. Essay-formatted post-test was used as the research tool. Hypothesis testing for mathematical problem solving ability was evaluated using two-sample unpaired t-test. Based on the findings, students in class who used the PjBL model were much better at solving math problems than students in class who used the conventional learning model (M=40.98, SD=10.78) (M=59.22, SD=12.72). The t-test resulted in a t-table of 1.64 and a t-count of 5.588 at a significance level of α = 0.05. The hypothesis is accepted because is greater than , which indicates that students' ability to solve math problems is much better with the PjBL model than with the conventional method.
