Pendekatan Sosiologi Ibnu Khaldun dalam Upaya Pencegahan Kekerasan Seksual di Indonesia
Abstract
Sexual violence against women in Indonesia is a deep-rooted issue, with historical oppression originating from narratives such as Eve being considered the cause of Adam’s expulsion from paradise. This paradigm places women in an inferior position and contributes to the high prevalence of sexual violence in both public and domestic spaces. While men can also be victims, they are often reluctant to report due to stigma or a lack of understanding. Sexual violence has wide-ranging effects on the physical, psychological, social, economic, and political well-being of victims, especially those from marginalized groups. Although there are regulations related to sexual violence in Indonesia, their implementation is impeded by patriarchal culture and discriminatory views within society. This study uses a library research method with a sociological approach, integrating Ibn Khaldun's concept of "al-Umran" to understand the social dynamics that influence the protection of women and the prevention of sexual violence. The research highlights the importance of positive social interactions and the support of various parties, including the government, institutions, and religious leaders. Moreover, the study emphasizes the need for openness in reporting sexual violence, consistency in the implementation of legal protections, and the provision of healthcare services and spiritual support for victims. The findings indicate that a comprehensive approach involving multiple stakeholders and the application of the principles of badawah (nomadic life) and hadharah (civilized life) can create a more just, safe society that promotes gender equality and prevents sexual violence.
