Abstract

Background: This research examines Pancasila as Indonesia's national ideology and its alignment with state and educational objectives under Law No. 20 of 2003. Pancasila serves as the philosophical foundation for the national education system, which aims to develop holistic human potential encompassing spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social dimensions. Methods: The study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach using literature review methodology. Data were collected from secondary sources including legal documents, academic literature, and philosophical texts analyzing Pancasila and Indonesian educational goals. Results: The analysis reveals that Pancasila's five principles—belief in God, just and civilized humanity, Indonesian unity, democracy guided by consensus, and social justice—are congruent with national education objectives of developing faithful, morally upright, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, and democratic citizens. The study identifies a hierarchical structure where moral and religious values form the core foundation, encompassing physical, intellectual, and social competencies. Character education emerges as central to achieving these integrated goals. Conclusion: Pancasila provides a comprehensive philosophical framework for Indonesian national education. The alignment between ideological values and educational objectives demonstrates that moral and character education constitutes the primary goal, reflecting Indonesia's commitment to developing citizens who internalize Pancasila values. This relationship suggests educational practices should prioritize character development while integrating intellectual and practical skills within Pancasila's ethical framework.
