Penerimaan Riwayat Hadis dari Kelompok Muawiyah oleh Ahlu As-Sunnah: Implikasi Teologis dan Pedagogis

Abstract


This study examines the stance of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah toward the hadiths narrated by Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan, a companion of the Prophet who played a significant role in Islamic history, especially during political conflicts such as the Battle of Siffin and involving his supporting companions. Although Muawiyah is often scrutinized in historical-political discourse, scholars of Ahlus Sunnah continue to accept the hadiths transmitted by him and his supporters, based on the principle that all companions are just and trustworthy in narrating hadith. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach, with primary sources consisting of classical hadith compilations and literature on sanad criticism. The findings indicate that the hadiths narrated by Muawiyah and his supporters have been acknowledged for their validity by hadith scholars and have contributed to the development of Islamic educational values, particularly in matters of manners, leadership, and the importance of seeking knowledge. Therefore, the acceptance of Muawiyah's hadiths impacts not only theological aspects but also carries pedagogical implications in shaping Islamic character and educational systems.
