Kontekstualisasi Ayat-Ayat Jihad Perspektif Abdullah Saeed

Abstract

Jihad is a contribution to every believer in terms of strength and potential. Jihad is often referred to as qital or war, while the background of jihad prescribed by the Qur'an is not only fighting but also includes positive activities or other good deeds. Jihad in the Meccan era was not conducted by war but by delegating all one's ability to find many polytheists with words that the mind and heart can understand considering the condition and situation of Muslims who do dhoif are and have no power. As for jihad in the Medina period, the emphasis was on the importance of jihad, namely war for Muslim groups to avenge attacks against them. Building on this, in this work the author would like to discuss the contextualization of jihad verses from the perspective of Abdullah Saeed, the results of this study show the meaning of the term jihad and use Abdullah Saeed's contextualization theory. In this theory, 4 things are examined, namely: language analysis, background, hypocritical verses or parallel texts and hierarchy of values. Furthermore, the concept of jihad in terms of the method of applying the contextualization theory of Abdullah Saeed and the results of his research means not only jihad on the battlefield to uphold the li'ilahi Kalimatillah, but jihad also involves hard work for good to do and maintain enforce. Prohibition of evil, Nafsi Jihad, Jihad for the truth of Islam, Jihad for the elimination of violence and tyranny, Jihad against the enemies of Islam and the like
