PENERAPAN PRINSIP TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT (TQM) DALAM PENGELOLAAN PONDOK PESANTREN SALAF DI PONPES MIFTAHUL ‘ULUM MUKOMUKO
Abstract
ABSTACK
The management of the traditional Islamic boarding school (salaf pesantren) at Miftahul Ulum Mukomuko still faces challenges in optimizing the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) principles. This study aims to describe and analyze the application of Total Quality Management (TQM) principles in the management of the traditional Islamic boarding school at Miftahul Ulum Mukomuko. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, the research was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that (1) The management process of the Salaf Islamic Boarding School at Miftahul Ulum Mukomuko encompasses planning, organizing, implementing, assessing, and evaluating; (2) The principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) are applied through customer satisfaction, respect for every individual, fact-based decision-making, and continuous improvement at Miftahul Ulum Islamic Boarding School; (3) However, the implementation of TQM principles encounters several obstacles, including a limited understanding of the TQM concept, insufficient training for teachers and staff, and concerns regarding the potential loss of traditional pesantren values. Therefore, it is recommended to enhance managerial capacity, strengthen data-based quality evaluation systems, and integrate traditional values with modern management principles to achieve sustainable quality education within the pesantren system.

ABSTRAK
Pengelolaan Pondok Pesantren Salaf Miftahul Ulum Mukomuko masih menghadapi tantangan dalam optimalisasi penerapan prinsip Total Quality Management (TQM). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis penerapan prinsip Total Quality Management (TQM) dalam pengelolaan pondok pesantren salaf di Ponpes Miftahul Ulum Mukomuko. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif analitis melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Pengelolaan Pondok Pesantren Salaf di Ponpes Miftahul Ulum Mukomuko melalui merencanakan, mengorganisasikan, melaksanakan, menilai dan mengevaluasi; (2) Prinsip penerapan Total Quality Management (TQM) melalui kepuasan pelanggan, Respek terhadap setiap individu, pengambilan keputusan berbasis fakta, perbaikan secara berkelanjutan di Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Ulum Mukomuko; (3) Prinsip penerapan Total Quality Management (TQM) masih terdapat kendala seperti kurangnya pemahaman terhadap konsep TQM, terbatasnya pelatihan bagi tenaga pengajar dan staf, serta kekhawatiran terhadap hilangnya nilai-nilai tradisional pesantren. Sehingga dapat disarankan untuk meningkatan kapasitas pengelola, penguatan sistem evaluasi mutu berbasis data, dan integrasi nilai-nilai tradisional dengan prinsip manajemen modern untuk menciptakan mutu pendidikan pesantren yang berkelanjutan.
