Pancasila as The Basis of Digital Ethics in The Social Media Era

Friska Linia Sari, Rahmah Sari

Abstract

The development of digital technology and the rise of social media have changed the way Indonesians live. Along with this, various problems have emerged, such as the spread of false information, hate speech, and inappropriate behavior in the online world. This situation shows how important it is to have a strong moral foundation when engaging in digital activities. Pancasila, as the foundation of the state and the nation's philosophy of life, actually contains values that can be used as ethical guidelines in the media. The values of Belief in God, Humanity, Unity, Democracy, and Justice, if truly internalized, can shape a society that is wiser, more responsible, and more respectful of others in digital interactions. This article discusses how Pancasila remains relevant as a foundation for digital ethics in the era of social media, by linking it to moral theory, the concept of monotheism, and several examples of social media abuse that have occurred in Indonesia.
